Research interest | Subduction of a slab at the convergent boundary is one of the important tectonic processes because it characterizes the arc magmatism, seicmicity, and the elemental transportation into the Earth. The subducting slab undergoes the prograde metamorphism to partially be eclogite at a depth of ~60 km. I study the kinetics of mineral growths in the eclogite (i.e., garnet and omphacite growths) and the disequilibrium micro/nano-texture formation in them. I especially focus on the antiphase domain (APD), an enigmatic nanostructure in omphacite on which there have been few studies since the 1990s, to understand the chemical geodynamics in subduction zones with the detailed timescale information. |
